In short: this website does not track you. No cookies, no analytics, nothing loaded from outside services until you choose it. Below is what happens with your data, and what your rights are under Dutch and European privacy law (AVG/GDPR).

Visiting the website
Bezoek aan de website
No cookies, no analytics, no trackers, no advertising and no social media buttons. Fonts, pictures and recordings are served from rootedintheword.nl itself, so visiting a page does not send your data to Google or anyone else. Like any website, the web server (hosted by Mijndomein in the Netherlands) briefly records technical data such as IP addresses in its logs, to keep the site safe and working.
Geen cookies, geen statistieken, geen trackers, geen advertenties en geen social-mediaknoppen. Lettertypen, afbeeldingen en opnames komen van rootedintheword.nl zelf, dus als je een pagina bezoekt, gaan je gegevens niet naar Google of anderen. Zoals elke website legt de webserver (gehost door Mijndomein in Nederland) kort technische gegevens vast, zoals IP-adressen, om de site veilig en werkend te houden.

Instellingen op je eigen apparaat
Some pages and apps remember your choices, such as light or dark colours, your language, your progress in a course or your favourite cards. This is stored only in your own browser (local storage) and never sent to me. You can remove it at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
Sommige pagina’s en apps onthouden je keuzes, zoals lichte of donkere kleuren, je taal, je voortgang in een cursus of je favoriete kaarten. Dat wordt alleen in je eigen browser bewaard (local storage) en nooit naar mij verstuurd. Je kunt het altijd verwijderen door de websitegegevens van deze site in je browser te wissen.
Videos and outside content
Video’s en externe inhoud
The course apps show lesson videos from YouTube and, in the Hebrew course, quizzes from BibleLing.org. These only load after you press play or load, or when you have chosen in the app’s settings to load them automatically; you can change that choice at any time. Once they load, YouTube (Google) or BibleLing receives data such as your IP address, and their own privacy policies apply. Links to other websites, such as the videos on My Inspiration, open those websites only when you click them.
De cursusapps tonen lesvideo’s van YouTube en, in de Hebreeuwse cursus, oefeningen van BibleLing.org. Die worden pas geladen als je op afspelen of laden drukt, of als je in de instellingen van de app hebt gekozen om ze automatisch te laden; die keuze kun je altijd wijzigen. Zodra ze laden, ontvangt YouTube (Google) of BibleLing gegevens zoals je IP-adres en gelden hun eigen privacyregels. Links naar andere websites, zoals de video’s op Mijn inspiratie, openen die websites pas als je erop klikt.
When you contact me
Als je contact met mij opneemt
When you email me or send a request for a quote, I receive your name, email address, your message and any files you attach. I use these only to answer you, to make a quote and, if you hire me, to do the work and send the invoice. The legal basis is taking steps at your request before a contract, and the contract itself. I do not sell or share your data, and I do not use it for newsletters unless you ask for that.
Als je mij mailt of een offerte aanvraagt, ontvang ik je naam, e-mailadres, je bericht en eventuele bijlagen. Ik gebruik die alleen om je te antwoorden, een offerte te maken en, als je mij inschakelt, het werk te doen en de factuur te sturen. De grondslag is het nemen van stappen op jouw verzoek vóór een overeenkomst, en de overeenkomst zelf. Ik verkoop of deel je gegevens niet en gebruik ze niet voor nieuwsbrieven, tenzij je daarom vraagt.
How long I keep it
Hoe lang ik het bewaar
Messages and files for a request that does not lead to work: up to one year after our last contact. Project files: as long as needed for the work and possible follow-up questions, at most two years after the project. Invoices and the related administration: seven years, as Dutch tax law requires.
Berichten en bestanden bij een aanvraag die niet tot werk leidt: tot één jaar na ons laatste contact. Projectbestanden: zolang nodig voor het werk en eventuele vervolgvragen, hooguit twee jaar na het project. Facturen en de bijbehorende administratie: zeven jaar, zoals de Nederlandse belastingwet voorschrijft.

You may ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, to limit its use, to object to it, or to receive it in a usable form. Email info@rootedintheword.nl; I will reply within one month. If you are not satisfied, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens ↗.
Je kunt vragen om je persoonsgegevens in te zien, te corrigeren of te verwijderen, het gebruik te beperken, bezwaar te maken, of ze in een bruikbare vorm te ontvangen. Mail naar info@rootedintheword.nl; ik antwoord binnen een maand. Ben je niet tevreden, dan kun je een klacht indienen bij de Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens ↗.
